Melody's Apartment "...Friends?"
Kawako dropped her arm down to her side and titlted her head to the side.
"But... Aren't they holding you hostage in this bee-death-trap? Are you saying that I've somehow misunderstood the situation?"
She looked around and shook her head.
"That doesn't seem likely... Are you SURE you're not being brainwashed?"
ACD48 "Offices"
"Alright, then~! Here we go~!"
Rin cheered and pressed the call button.
Ring. Ring. Ring...
"Ah! Hello! Can I speak to 'Mother' please? I have a... business proposition I'd like to put forth."

The Phone
There was a pause on the phone, and on the other side, one could hear some faint snippets of "Once Upon a Game of Gotham" playing in the background.
"...Whatever." Came the reply in a cool, dry tone, and then after the sound of some footsteps, a confused grunt, and a door closing shut, a gruff, masculine voice came on the other end.
"Wha-- Why do you have to do this, ALWAYS when I'm working... Who is this now? Are you calling to book a reservation, or can I help you with something other completely legitimate business ventures?"

Dogyo Streets:
Aya had many things to contemplate on her walk home. Keeping her relationship with Gwendalyn on good terms was first and foremost. She seemed so much more experienced in the idol industry than Aya herself. Aya wasn't worried that their unofficial partnership would go South, per se. Gwendalyn was such a friendly person. She gave good advice, and she was fun to be around, although her office still bugged Aya a little.
Soon, Aya found herself passing Coolmeyer's Diner. Hmm. She'd heard of this place before, only vaguely. Was this an idol hangout at some point? Aya could never keep her rumors straight, not that she had any interest to. Still, she found herself stopping in front of the diner for some reason...

Melody's Apartment
Mei puffed her cheeks up even further and stared at Kawako-san.
Staaaare.
Eventually Meiryo just gave up on staring and sighed, rubbing the back of her neck. "Kawako, your friend Mei is fine! No one's being held hostage here. I'm just speaking to our 4th floor neighbours, that's all!" she said with a reassuring smile. Meiryo approaches Kawako and puts her hands on Kawako's arms. She led her to the door, still smiling.
"Look, why don't you go back to the apartment and watch some anime? I'll buy us dinner later, okay Kawako?"

Coolmeyer's Legitimate Diner:
It may come as a shock to many, but idoling was not the Cool Girl's only passion.
While her dad had just received some shady-sounding call from a girl, the Cool Girl had been busy at her laptop, busily editing her latest masterpiece. While in person she was the cool and stunning idol who would barely bat an eye at the inevitable nuclear Armageddon, on the internet, she had created a very different persona-- A Youtube channel filled with her secret passion; amateur arthouse films.
She was already 2 thousand subscribers strong and had only ever uploaded videos of buildings, nature, and other such abstract imagery. In her current video , images and sound clips flashed by as she meticulously arranged the handheld camera footage of insects on the sidewalk and cut it against a bunch of politicians-- What it meant didn't matter, so long as people THOUGHT it meant something.
But she would need more footage for her next one. This would be her most daring shot yet-- An artistic strife that would break through and outdo all her previous creations combined. She quickly gathered an armful of dinosaur toys, grabbed her handheld camera, and descended the stairs.
"Oh, are you making your little dinosaur movies again?" Auntie Blackrose asked over the ding of her awful piano solo. "Let me know if you need one of my signature piano covers! I finally managed to hit Ringo hard enough that he likes it now."
CG merely gave her a thumbs up and walked out the front door. The cool breeze ran through her hair, the evening sun caught in her shades, and there was a young girl just outside, right in front of her and Coolmeyer's Diner.
Curses; she'd been caught! And after all her precautions, too.

Outside Coolmeyer's Diner:
Aya just stood there, staring at the flickering neon sign marking the location of Coolmeyer's Legitimate Diner for a moment, not really appearing to think about anything. In reality... this was sort of correct. Aya was just kind of spacing out. It was an odd feeling, no matter how frequently it occurred to Aya, to just become lost in one particular moment.
And then the door opened, and out strode a girl with blonde hair and a major affinity for black with an armful of plastic and rubber made to look like dinosaurs. Aya didn't know what was going on there, but she wasn't about to question it. Instead, she just stared down this new girl with her usual vacant, distant expression. She attempted to lock eyes with her, but the girl's shades were getting in the way of that. A simple greeting would have to do.
"...Hello."

Coolmeyer's Legitimate Business Ventures:
The Cool Girl stood outside, the sound of the street and the cool breeze passing through her hair. On one side, there was her, the impeccably cool teenage girl with an armful of plastic dinosaurs and a camcorder. On the other, there was an equally nonplussed white-haired girl with bits of dirt and garbage clinging to her outfit, as if she'd just been performing in the literal dump.
The Cool Girl stared at Aya silently for a while.
"We should fight." She said.

Outside Coolmeyer's Diner:
Aya and this undeniably Cool Girl held each others' stares. The tension in the air was becoming thicker with every passing second. Aya just focused on her, not really knowing what else to do, until she broke the silence.
"We should fight."
Aya's already large eyes widened slightly, and the pupils of her lavender eyes narrowed. Did this girl really just ask for a fight right out of the blue like that? What kind of fight? Was she referring to an actual fistfight? Or did this girl somehow know that she was a performer? Was this girl also a performer? This black-clad ice princess suddenly seemed that much more intimidating. Aya struggled to find a satisfactory response. Would she run away, or take her head on?
Aya was very against getting physical, and she couldn't throw a punch to save her life. She couldn't make that work. She glanced toward the Diner, then back to the Cool Girl. Aya didn't like making this kind of assumption, but this girl seemed impatient, to say the least. Aya simply assumed she was a performer like herself, and pointed toward the Diner entrance nonchalantly with her thumb.
"Okay." Aya mentally prepared herself to dance again, bringing to mind everything she could of Gwendalyn's teachings.

Coolmeyer's Completely Legitimate Idol Fighting Ring:
"I shall let you know," CG said, producing a comb from her pocket and swiping it dramatically through her golden locks, "That no one has ever faced me in an Idol Battle and survived."
The first part was true.
With that, Cool Girl raised her leg and dramatically kicked open the door behind her-- An impressive feat, considering that 1 year prior, the door had only swung in one direction. She quickly waltzed into the dimly lit room, past the snoring ex-idol sprawled across the floor, and the sobbing idol fan at his laptop, and onto the raised stage where Lady Blackrose was currently punishing everyone within a 30 mile radius with her rendition of "Piano Man".
"Auntie, we're gonna do a battle." CG said plainly, placing her dinosaurs on the piano.
"Oh my," Blackrose said, beaming with pride, "Your first idol showdown!? Oh, I'm so proud! Do you want me to--"
"No, Auntie," CG replied, flicking her hair, "I don't need you to bash her kneecaps in; This is MY career. I won't have anyone interfere."
"I was going to say 'record it for you'."
"no. never." Cool Girl glanced silently at her dinosaurs. "no one must ever know."

Coolmeyer's Legitimate Diner:
Okay, maybe Aya was in a little over her head now. If this girl was victorious every single time she got into an idol fight with someone, there was no way she could do this. Not that Aya's expression currently reflected this sentiment. Gwendalyn's words started resurfacing to Aya's mind.
"The point is, you're unique. I have a good feeling you're going to revolutionize this industry."
Right. She wasn't like the other idols, according to Gwendalyn. Confidence grew within Aya. She'd show the Cool Girl what she was made of. She'd blow the shades right off her face. Aya ambled into the diner, where she found that... the Cool Girl hadn't actually fought anyone in an idol fight before. Aya pondered this for a moment, and decided that technically, if no one battled her, there wouldn't be anyone to survive the fight. Yes, this was logical. Cool Girl wasn't lying. Aya could still trust her.
Also, apparently there was someone who wanted to bash in her kneecaps. That was worrying. Wasn't this a legitimate business? Now Aya concluded that legitimate businesses hire people to bash in peoples' kneecaps. Aya was learning all sorts of things today!
This thought in mind, Aya stared down this "Auntie Blackrose" person, scanning her every move. She had to make doubly sure that her kneecaps were still intact after this idol battle that would be made famous for its sheer tension. Yes, this would be the battle the media covers for weeks on end, due to the sheer tension and back-and-forth retaliations and music.
Don't say you haven't been warned.

ACD48 "Offices"
"The latter."
Rin smiled and tapped her fingers on the table. She'd taken a handkerchief from her backpack, held to her mouth to slightly hide her voice.
"I'm looking for information on an, uh... Melody Urashima. Idol. Standard stuff, really. Where she lives, what route she takes to get there, who her manager is... Really just a basic profile on her."
She paused.
"I'd also appreciate any sort of information that she'd prefer to keep secret. Any sort of scandals. Anything on her relationship with her manager. The sort of stuff that could ruin her, you know? We- I'll pay extra for that, if necessary."
She flipped through the money she had procured from the last show.
"So, if you could give me a rate, that'd be appreciated."
Melody's Apartment
"Oh. So these are our neighbours..."
Kawako mulled over the word, spinning it around in her head. Then, suddenly, she threw an arm around Shigeru and lightly punched him on the arm.
"Well! Why didn't you say so in the first place!" She laughed. "Nice to meet you, buddy. My name's Kawako."
She released him and held out a hand. And then, noticing Melody, thrust out her other hand to her too.
"Oh! You too! Didn't see you down there! So, anyway..." She looked at each of the two. "You guys like anime?"

Rin's Phone:
"...Ah, I see. You're calling about my Completely Legitimate Business Practices. Well, then..."
There was a pause, and from the other end, you can hear the clicks of fingers on keyboards, and a faint muffled noise of a KC And The Sunshine Band song. After a moment, the man on the other end spoke once more.
"My flat rate is $1,300. Bring that with you when you come to my office. The rest we'll discuss there. Thank you for partaking in our Completely Legitimate Business Practices."
There was a click, and the phone call ended.
Melody's Apartment:
Shigeru tensed up and froze at Kawako, the bees still buzzing frantically around his head. His mouth said nothing, but anyone that knew him would see that his eyes were screaming.
Also, there were still bees everywhere.
Melody slowly cleaned the bits of her $400 dollar table off her back, staring forlornly at the shattered wood and bits. She didn't particularly feel like returning the hospitality right now, but nonetheless she rose up, her eyes cold like a dead fish as she took Kawako's hand.
"We don't... watch much anime." Melody said. "Especially after our TV got set on fire. We don't exactly have a lot of time to relax now, anyways."
She glanced over at Shigeru, whose pupils were practically slingshotting around his sclera.
"If you wouldn't mind letting him go. He's got a bit of a problem with his... arm." Melody asked, going ahead and removing Kawako's hand anyways.
Bees still filled the air. What a glorious day.

ACD48 "Office"
Rin put down the phone on the table.
"He hung-up." She said, stating the obvious. "And we need 600 more bucks before he'll talk to us."
Melody's Personal Hell
"oh... Oh! Sorry there, buddy!"
She released Shigeru and bounced over to Melody. Her tall frame towering over the other girl.
"You know, though, if you want you can always borrow our TV, any time! It's a really nice TV, actually. We found it at a garage sale, and patched it up a bit. It runs perfectly! When we can find the remote, of course..."
She punched her palm.
"Right! Actually, I changed my mind! I INSIST you come over sometime and check it out! Because we can't have you missing out on the latest episodes, no siree! You and Shigu should be able to find the apartment easily. It's just downstairs. Yep. The one with the window covered in ducttape! We even have a sign on the door. 'Monster Dust Idol Group.' It's what makes us PROFESSIONALS. It wouldn't be legitimate without the sign..."
Kawako nodded, very pleased with herself.
"So, Melody, what do you do for a living?

"$600, huh?"
Akira took out her duct tape, posed with it, and flashed a big smile.
"Guess that means we need to do more shows then, eh?"
