What is @channel?
@channel is a simple private forum with an intentionally small userbase! At any given time, only up to 500 users can exist on the board. If for any reason, your account is considered inactive, your username will be given to the next user in the queue. Users must register before participating in the community. Upon registration, you will be assigned your username. If we are at capacity, please be patient! A username will be assigned to you eventually! That said, feel free to click on a thread below that interests you and jump right in!
Be sure to familiarize yourself with the Rules and FAQ if you wish to learn more about how to use the site.
Rules
- Always act as if this is all "real"
- Always keep the tone of the story. That doesn't mean you can't shitpost. This IS aiming to replicate an actual "forum." But make sure that you don't post things that actively weaken the suspension of disbelief. So, posting occasional dank memes or something like "lol i bet i could rek 5 zombies with my bare hands rip" is fine. But something like "I just heard on the radio that all the zombies are actually from the butt planet and I have been eaten by a butt zombie pls help." Look, you're smart. You should know when it's fitting or contextually sensical to post whatever.
- Try and make your posts further the plot
- Posts are in real time. Please keep that in mind.
- Don't post OOC. Ask about whatever you need to ask in the discord or via PM or something. Just not OOC. This post is the ONLY allowed OOC post in this game/story.
- This is NOT an RP. Do not make posts RPing. For example, don't write "John beats the zombie down with his massive muscley arms and wipes his brow. I am really gud at fite zombie he thinks to himself." Write something like "Guys! I just beat a zombie with my own two hands! What do I do?"
FAQ
- What is @channel/this thread?
- This is a collaborative fiction project/experiment where we post on this forum as if the events of the zombie apocalypse are currently occurring.

- What's the point of this?
- The point of "Let's Survive" is to try and create a fully functioning narrative which uses the medium which it is being told on to the greatest extent. Essentially, to tell a narrative that is interesting and exciting through an interesting style, while also sharpening our skills at improv.

- Do I have to play this as myself?
- No. You can absolutely write as a fictional, original character or a fictionalized version of yourself. Hell, the whole point of the in-universe "username replacement" system is so you can die, and still participate in the thread as someone new.

- This is improv so I have to always agree with information presented by other players, right?
- Not necessarily! It really depends on 3 factors. Would disagreeing with the facts presented further the plot? Does it still allow for the other post to be "genuine" and would your own post be as such? And, finally, is the "truth" ambiguous enough? The first of those factors is pretty easy to understand, so I won't bother going into detail there. The second revolves around whether or not a post can be believably made in earnest, or at least believably by the character. For example, it'd make sense if Kwando posted "Oh gosh. Canada's swarming with the undead" and I posted "i call bullshit. lol. nice try m8." This works because I'm not in Canada, I have no reason to believe Kwando's claim (presuming the zombie apocalypse hasn't reached this far yet.) Meanwhile, Kwando's post is still able to be completely earnest because the information in it could be completely true, or there's good reason to believe that they believe it's true (since they are the one IN Canada.) Point is, whether or not the character could reasonably believe what they're saying is true. Finally, ambiguity is important. If it's ambiguous what information is correct, at the time of posting, then it's all fine!

- Wait. Hold on.... How much power do we have to control the plot? Surely it isn't just left to the players?
- Actually, pretty much. Ya. This isn't an RP, it's collaborative fiction! Everyone is free to push the story in whatever direction they want. And if they want to make stuff like "screenshots" or "photos" or whatever to substantiate their posts, that's even better! As long as we keep to the tone and reasonably within the suspension of disbelief, there's really no problems.
- You mentioned this was in real time, right? Does that mean the real dates or...
- While the actual year is ambiguous, this will take place in real time. If it's 6:10pm in America IRL, it's 6:10pm in America in the game. This, obviously, also is true for when the date turns over. However, the actual date isn't necessarily the date it is IRL. Rather, it's whatever date it would be in the game world, based upon the date given in the opening post (give or take a few days at your leisure.)

Thread: Let's Survive The Zombie Apocalypse
Welp. We had a good run. RIP in kill.
Seriously, though, what do you guys make of this? Like, I'm skeptical on the whole... zombie apocalypse thing, but the actual report seems legit enough? Like, there's other sites out there reporting on this if you google it. Then again, lolbuzzfeed is the only one calling it a zombie-thing so... rip again.
But, yeah. Zombie apocalypse incoming or nah?
